Come enjoy the fun |
Our goal at the Rockin “R” is to offer a fun activity that friends and family can participate in together. Horseback riding can be a way to get your children out from in front of the television and spend some quality time together. If you have always wanted to ride a horse, and you enjoy being outdoors; then come take a ride with us. Here is what you can expect once you have picked a date for your trail ride. You have six locations to choose from. Once you have decided on the location, you will want to arrive at least 30 minutes before your trail ride is to start. In your hand you will have your signed release form sent to by Rockin “R” Trail Rides L.L.C. Your adventure begins: One of the trained staff members at Rockin “R” Trail Rides will welcome you when you arrive. The staff member will introduce to your horse. You take a minute to walk around your horse and admire this wonderful animal. You have been waiting for this day since you booked your trail ride at www.rockinrtrailrides.com. The trail guide introduces himself and tells everyone that there will be six riders today. He gives everyone some simple instructions on how to handle the horse. The trail guide says, “Saddle up, let’s ride.” You climb up into the saddle, and wait for the other riders to do the same. He leads everyone across the overgrown meadow toward a wooded area. It is a warm sunny day and everyone is excited that spring is finally here. When we reached the edge of the woods the lead horse stops, and the other horses follow suit. You are not sure why everyone has stopped so abruptly, so you look up ahead to see what the problem is. It does not appear that anything is wrong, but you don’t see the path that leads into the woods. You wonder if the Trail Boss has lost his way, and then all of a sudden; he’s gone. One by one the other riders followed, they seem to disappear into the woods. You shake your head in disbelief. Of course you know that they really didn’t disappear, but it sure looks like they did. You reach the edge of the woods and it is your turn to enter. You can’t see anything ahead of you because the leaves on the trees are so thick. Your horse slowly walks into the woods, and you duck so you won’t hit your head on a low lying branch. As soon as you up-right yourself you look around and the view is breathtaking. The trees are fifty or sixty feet tall. The shafts of sunlight stream down through the tree tops, and move as if dancing with the wind. There is a carpet of purple and pink flowers all around you. The air seems so clean, and why shouldn't it; there aren’t any automobiles emitting their exhaust fumes. You look back trying to see the meadow; it’s gone. You hear the faint sound of a dog barking in the distance, but nothing else. You turn back and start to follow the other riders when you hear something. You stop your horse and look over in the direction of the noise. You don’t see anything, so you squint; you still don’t see anything. You decide it must have been a squirrel, and just as you get ready to turn away; it moves. You stare in disbelief, your jaw drops open because just twenty feet away staring back at you are two deer. You think to yourself, how could I, have missed them. You can’t believe how close they are to you. One of the deer’s looks toward the other riders, and then quickly runs off into the woods. The other riders are quite a bit ahead of you, so your horse picks up the pace. He maneuvers through the twists and turns of the trail like a down hill skier does around the flags. Your horse catches up to the others and slows back down to a walk. Up in the trees you hear a woodpecker, rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat banging on a tree. You look up and see him fly off as you pass the tree he had been banging on. You had no idea that horseback riding was so peaceful. The rhythm of the horse walking through the woods is so relaxing. You feel as if the world has been lifted off your shoulders. The hustle and bustle of everyday life is gone. You reach down and turn your cell phone off, and a smile spreads across your face. |
